Scientific Research Prize
Santander supports research at higher education centres around the country and offers total prize money worth USD 110,000. There are various categories: senior and young researchers and work experience placements.
UD-Banco Santander Research Award
Each year, Deusto University gives this award to recognise and promote the work of the academic institution's researchers and research teams that allow new scientific projects to flourish and develop.
UCM Youth Award
This award given by Madrid Complutense University is designed to foster research, creativity, environmental friendliness, charity, knowledge and culture.
UMA Research Award
These awards are given by the Univeristy of Málaga to university students under 35 to boost their scientific career.
UJI Young Researchers Award
Universitat Jaume I gives this science outreach award to recognise the research efforts of the award winners based on their publications, involvement with research centres and participation in a variety of projects.
University of Coimbra Research Award
This award is one of the most important awards in the field of science. The winner is awarded with €25,000 for the work carried out throughout his or her life.
The Polytechnic Institute of Setubal Scientific Merit Award
Each year these awards are given to the best students in each of the five colleges of the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal (IPS), which has been working with Banco Santander Totta since 2008.
The University of Beira Interior Scientific Merit Award
Annually these awards are present to researchers who have excelled in the science departments of this Portuguese academic institution. They are worth €5,000 each, and aim to encourage the development of initiatives to promote research and teaching quality.
The UNL Scientific Merit Award
The Santander Totta / Universidade Nova de Lisboa Scientific Merit Award is worth €25,000. The aim is to reward the doctoral projects of young researchers and encourage collaboration among scientists within the institution itself.
The UTL Scientific Merit Award
These award is backed by the bank to honour the work of professors and researchers who have stood out for their scientific research and publications in international scientific journals. These awards are worth €5,000 each, with honourable mentions in addition for the most outstanding projects.
Santander Award to the Internationalisation of the FCSH Scientific Production
The Santander Award to the Internationalisation of the FCSH Scientific Production aims to reward the teachers and researchers who have most contributed to FCSH’s international reputation through the publication of Web of Science-indexed papers in the previous calendar year. This award has two categories: Teachers and Researchers.
Casa América Latina / Santander Totta Science Award
The aim of the award is to reward merit and stimulate the education of Latin American university students in Portugal, contributing to the development of a culture excellence. It has two categories: Social Science and Humanities, and Technology and Natural Science. It consists in a monetary award for the value of 5,000 euros for each of the winners in each category.
