Santander, committed to Higher Education
Through its Santander Universities, Banco Santander has collaborated with universities for 20 years on a unique global initiative which distinguishes it from other national and international banks and financial institutions.
The bank tops the 'Global Fortune 500' list as the company that invests the most in Corporate Social Responsibility in connection with education, according to the first global study published by the Varkey Foundation in collaboration with UNESCO.In 2016, the bank invested 157 million euros.
Santander Universities maintains agreements with 1.182 universities and research institutes from Argentina (83), Brazil (389), Belgium (1), Chile (49), China (8), Colombia (28), Italy (1), France (1), Germany (13), Mexico (206), Peru (15), Poland (59), Portugal (49), Puerto Rico (8), Qatar (1), Russia (6), Singapore (3), Spain (124), USA (42), United Kingdom (82), Uruguay (9) and Global agreements (5).*
The bank has invested more than €1.5 billion to support higher education since 2002.
Banco Santander has supported more than 3,000 university projects in 2016 to improve education, create opportunities for university students and spur research and innovation and an entrepreneurial culture.
Internationalisation will include international mobility scholarships, exchange programmes and transversal cooperation projects between institutions from various countries. And employability will support employment market access initiatives for university students with scholarship programmes for internships and training schemes.
