Santander Germany supports the Humboldt-University of Berlin (Disponible solo en inglés)

Agreement with Humboldt-University Berlin

  • Contract signed by Oliver Burda, Deputy CEO and Chief Human Resources Officer.
  • Santander, through its Santander Universities Global Division, supports the establishment of a Welcome Centre.

Mönchengladbach, July 1st, 2014 - Oliver Burda, Deputy CEO and Chief Human Resources Officer of Santander Consumer Bank AG and Prof. Dr. Jan-Hendrik Olbertz, President of the Humboldt-University of Berlin signed an agreement on future cooperation in Berlin. Object of this cooperation agreement is the financial support for the establishment of a Welcome Centre. The Welcome Centre serves numerous international scientists. In such a way the best possible service shall be provided, which facilitates the beginning at the new workplace and abroad.

At first Santander supports the project for a period of three years in the name of Santander Universitäten, part of the global division Santander Universidades. In the context of social engagement Santander maintains meanwhile more than 1,100 agreements worldwide with universities and research centres. Besides the Humboldt-University of Berlin the bank supports the University Bremen, the University Heidelberg, the University of Cologne, the Westfälische Wilhelms-University Münster and the University Niederrhein in Germany.

The festive signing of the contract by Oliver Burda, Deputy CEO and Chief Human Resources Officer of Santander Consumer Bank AG and Prof. Dr. Jan-Hendrik Olbertz, President of the Humboldt University of Berlin took place on Wednesday, 25 June 2014 in the office of the President. Afterwards the Chief Human Resources Officer of the bank as well as the president of the university held a ceremonial speech, which expressed the meaning of the cooperation for both institutions.

Santander as well as the Humboldt University of Berlin want to ensure young researchers an improved service through the joint agreement. The offer of academic, technological and scientific projects and programmes plays here a big part. The aim of the cooperation is to guarantee young scientists a highly qualified level of training thus with it to support sustainable research and development projects.
