Nationality: Brazilian, born in 1975.
Education: He holds a bachelor's degree in Production Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (USP), where he graduated from in 1999.
Experience: He has been with Santander Brasil since 2015, when he was appointed Head of Corporate & Investment Banking. Two years later, he was named Executive Vice President of the Corporate segment, where he oversaw medium and large companies, in addition to serving on the company's Executive Committee.
In 2021, he was announced as Sérgio Rial's successor as CEO of Santander Brasil, charged with leading the continuity of the organization's growth and transformation. He has held the new position, while also serving on the Board of Directors, since the beginning of 2022.
Mario Leão has over 25 years of financial industry experience. Prior to joining Santander, he enjoyed a successful career in leadership roles at Citibank's, Goldman Sachs', and Morgan Stanley's Corporate and Investment Banking divisions.
