Román Blanco Reinosa

CEO of Banco Santander in Chile

CEO and Country Head of Banco Santander Chile since August 2022, Román Blanco holds a degree in civil engineering from the University of Cantabria (Spain) and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, US).

He joined the Group 18 years ago, in 2004, as vice-president at Banco Santander Banespa in São Paulo, Brazil, where he was tasked with strengthening the Group’s market positioning.

In 2007, he was appointed chair and CEO of Santander Colombia, where his strategy helped increase the company’s value.  In 2012, he took on leadership duties at Santander Puerto Rico. Later, he became CEO of Santander Bank, NA and Santander Holdings in Boston, US.

He also oversaw operations for Grupo Santander in the Andean Region and Uruguay, and was a board member of Santander Uruguay, Santander Perú and Santander Colombia.
