Companies are ever more aware that their employees are a key factor to success. Santander Talentour is a programme that aims to find and attract the best young talent to our teams.

In particular we are looking for new profiles, especially those from the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and digital areas. The young people who take part in our programme also need other basic abilities, such as teamwork, communication skills, learning ability and, in particular, they have to be highly proactive and motivated.

This is the case of David Díaz, a 24-year-old graduate in Industrial Engineering and Materials Engineering, who took part in Santander Talentour. He did not access the programme directly, coming to it instead through the Santander Business Competition and its crowdlending project based on participatory banking. Three months after starting with the work experience programme, David was recruited by Santander. Now he says that what most encouraged him to take a permanent job with the bank “was the human factor. The people, the teams…”

Ana María Barbalata’s story is similar to David’s; she is a young economist from Romania. She began her work experience at the bank in October 2018 through Santander Talentour and, just three months later, she was taken on to the regular staff.  “I love my job for many reasons, but what I like most is that every day is different. Everything is dynamic. Every morning means a new challenge and something new to learn“, says Ana María.

According to Jorge Narváez, head of Recruitment at the corporate centre, “Santander Talentour is an initiative which gives these students first-hand access – alongside business professionals – to the Group’s most innovative current projects, together with genuine employment opportunities, with the goal of identifying Santander as an attractive place to work.”

Santander has already been recognised this year as one of the best places to work: for the third year running, our Bank has been awarded Top Employer Europe 2019 certification. The Group has received this accolade in eight European countries, including Spain. Of these, Santander Consumer Finance has been awarded this certification in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland.

One of the things that characterises us is our contribution to the personal and professional development of our workforce. That is why we are convinced that, between now and 2025, we will achieve our objective of becoming one of the three best banks to work for in the main markets in which we operate.
