Banco Santander, through Santander Universities, and the IE Foundation have signed an agreement whereby 180 young university students from 15 countries will benefit from specialized training in digital transformation to improve their employability and their knowledge in technology and innovation.

This scholarship program, which is part of Santander Scholarships | Digital Skills, will select 100 university students from various disciplines from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, USA, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom and Uruguay that may qualify for a Santander IE Scholarship - Digital DNA.

In addition, 30 of the scholarship students will participate in a selection process for professional internships at Banco Santander and will have the possibility of joining the team.

In the following months, 80 new Santander Scholarships will be convened for STEM profiles - with training in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics disciplines - in the framework of the collaboration between Banco Santander and IE Foundation.

Carlos Mas, Executive Vice President of the IE Foundation, stressed that “all graduates, regardless of discipline, must have a common DNA that allows them to understand and manage the digital world in which we live. Empowering and developing this talent is part of the mission we share with Banco Santander and is the focus of this scholarship program. ”

The first 100 students selected for the Santander IE-Digital DNA program will receive training in English and Spanish from the faculty of IE School of Human Sciences and Technology, one of the IE University schools. It is aimed at undergraduate students in their last two courses, master program students and graduates in the last five years since the launch of the call.

Students will participate in two HIOPs (High Impact Online Programs) courses of five weeks each. The first, New Technologies for Innovation, is designed to know the impact of digital disruption from a business perspective and how companies are creating competitive advantages using these technologies.

Through the second, Data Science and Visualization for Business, they will obtain the foundations of data science and a practical experience in information and data visualization to be able to make the best decisions in the day to day business.

Santander IE-Digital DNA will allow students to understand the impact of technology and understand the potential of data science to make decisions in the business world. They will expand their knowledge and develop skills to face new challenges in their career“, said Lee Newman, Dean of IE School of Human Sciences and Technology.

With the aim of enhancing the employability of university students, the 1,000 finalists of the Santander IE - Digital DNA program who finally do not get a place, will be able to access a MOOC training program on 'Intelligence Tools for Digital Age' of IE University and both institutions they will finance the certificate of said course that will allow them to accredit this capacity in their future selection processes.
