Santander welcomes EDTF report on enhancing risk disclosure

  • The report, Enhancing the Risk Disclosures of Banks, represents a significant step towards improving transparency.

Madrid, October 30, 2012 -  Banco Santander welcomes the publication of the Enhanced Disclosure Task Force report, Enhancing the Risk Disclosures of Banks, and hopes the initiative will contribute to improving the quality of risk reporting in the industry.

In line with our continued commitment towards greater market transparency, as an important component to foster financial stability, Santander has been closely involved in the EDTF. The task force is a private initiative to enhance the risk disclosure of banks, as mandated and welcomed by the Financial Stability Board (FSB).

The final report, published on Monday, is the result of fruitful collaboration involving a wide range of stakeholders --  banks, banking analysts, investors and auditors -- under the auspices of the FSB. Santander sees this report as representing a significant step towards enhancing the transparency and comparability of banks' risk profiles.

The report, along with further information about the FSB initiative, is available on: https://www.financialstabilityboard.org
