As established by the Portuguese Directorate-General of Health under the principle of public health protection, the use of face masks in closed indoor spaces in the presence of several other people is considered to be a protection measure additional to social distancing, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette.

Lisbon, 20 April 2020.
Consequently, all Santander Portugal customers will have to wear masks when they visit their branch. This measure will be effective from 27 April and follows the recommendations issued by the Portuguese and international public health authorities as regards the covid-19 pandemic.

For the benefit of its customers and employees, the bank has reinforced cleaning and hygiene measures inside its branches.

Any visits to branches that are absolutely necessary will continue to be conducted as smoothly as possible, but preferably transactions should be carried out using the available digital channels (Netbanco and app) to avoid unnecessary contact and crowds.
