Madrid, 08 July 2021.
Banco Santander and Santander Universities are teaming up with Esade to open 2,500 “Santander Skills | Upskill your Talent - Esade” scholarships to enhance crucial soft skills for success in a labour market characterized by digital transformation and a demand for new, wide-ranging skills.

The programme comprises seven 6-to-8-hour modules that students can take in Spanish, English or Portuguese. They aim to foster leadership; creativity; individual productivity; persuasiveness and emotional intelligence; negotiation skills; communication; complex problem-solving; and decision-making.

The programme — which is open to students aged 18 and up from or residing in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, the US and the UK — is entirely online and based on an experiential “learning-by-doing” model that combines theory and practice.

Students can learn to coordinate and lead teams assertively; come up with creative solutions to problems and shortcomings in a project; fast-track processes with new methodologies; be more persuasive with working teams, customers and stakeholders; and master the right channels and messages to communicate effectively with various audiences.

Furthermore, if they meet all the programme’s requirements and complete all projects and activities, they will get a certificate of achievement. Students will be continually evaluated through assignments, deliverables and self-assessments that measure their performance objectively.

“In a more competitive labour market where automation is on the rise, soft skills have become an essential hiring requirement. At Banco Santander, we’re firm believers that these scholarships to enhance skills like leadership, negotiation and creativity add value to professionals and, no doubt, boost their employability”, said Javier Roglá, global director of Santander Universities.

According to Marc Correa, director of Executive Education at Esade, “we want these seven, brief online courses to educate professionals about soft skills that are growing in demand in the job market. The purpose of these scholarships is to meet a clear and pressing need to train professionals in what is being demanded by companies and vital to post-pandemic recovery".

The application deadline is 21 September. Anyone interested can check the eligibility criteria and apply at www.becas-santander.com.
