Santander has been named the World’s Best Bank for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) at the Qorus Awards, presented in Vienna during the Reinvent Forum 2025. The award was accepted by Borja Oyarzábal, Global Head of Commercial at Grupo Santander.

The judging panel particularly commended Santander’s approach to SMEs in areas such as specialisation and advisory model, digital solutions, internationalisation, sustainability, and non-financial and educational initiatives. The award recognises Santander’s support for SMEs through innovative solutions, tailored products, and a deep understanding of their needs.

Qorus is a global organisation founded in 1971 by banks and insurers, promoting innovation and transformation in financial services. Its awards celebrate the most pioneering initiatives in sectors such as banking, insurance and fintech, recognising organisations that lead change through new technologies, business models and customer-centric approaches. This year’s awards involved input from over 4,500 professionals across 47 countries, alongside a jury responsible for assessing the most impactful and forward-looking initiatives.

As part of its strong commitment to business development, Santander supports more than four million SMEs globally. In addition to traditional banking services, the Group leverages its global network and local expertise to deliver value to SMEs through green finance, entrepreneurship support, and international trade facilitation, among other drivers.

This strategy also includes the launch of Santander Multinationals, a dedicated unit for companies looking to expand beyond their home markets, offering services and advice aligned with corporate banking standards.
