The bank has added crypto-linked index funds and ETFs and improved the terms and conditions for shares, ETFs and managed portfolios for the under 30s.
This proposition seeks to facilitate access to investment through a simple, digital and transparent experience, as well as financial education for people who wish to start investing.
Santander has also extended its Dinero para invertir (“Money to invest”) campaign, which awards 50 euros to young people taking their first steps as investors.
Madrid, 21 September 2026.
Banco Santander is bolstering its strategy aimed at young people through a new savings and investment proposition that adds new products to its range, improves terms and conditions, and enables people under 30 to access financial markets.
This initiative responds to an increasingly visible trend, where young people are becoming more interested in investing and are looking for simple, digital and accessible ways to grow their savings. Through this proposition, Santander aims to help people who wish to start investing, with options tailored to varying profiles and experience and that combine a simple and competitive service with the security and trustworthiness of a global institution.
Among the latest developments, Santander has launched a new range of index funds that allow investments from 10 euros in three of the main stock market indices in Spain, Europe and the United States: IBEX 35, Euro Stoxx 50 and S&P 500. The bank is also adding 15 crypto-linked ETFs to its range (including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana) to broaden the options available to customers who seek exposure to these assets through listed financial instruments.
What’s more, Santander has improved the terms and conditions of several investment products for young people. The new fee for trading shares and ETFs will be 1 euro per transaction, while the rates for managed portfolios will drop to 0.4% for customers under 30. These portfolios enable investors to entrust professionals with the management of their investments and to access six global options with varying risk, from fixed income to aggressive portfolios, depending on each investor’s profile.
This new proposition follows three principles: simplicity, accessibility, and transparency. Young people can choose from a range of options based on their goals, knowledge and experience: from index funds for those who want to get started with small amounts, to shares and ETFs for those who want to make their own investment decisions, and managed portfolios for those who prefer to leave it to the professionals.
The breadth of the range also means that customers can choose from a selection of over 15,000 shares and 3,000 ETFs from the major markets. And if a customer is interested in an asset, share or ETF that is not yet available on the platform, they can request it to be added for trading within 24 to 48 hours.
With online sign-up and management, Santander has also revamped the investment experience to simplify the process and make it easier to make decisions and monitor investments.
The aim is to help young people take their first steps as investors by reducing some of the most common barriers, such as perceived complexity, entry costs and a lack of financial knowledge. Regarding that lack of knowledge and in line with its commitment to financial education, Santander is supplementing this proposition with free courses for those who are unsure where to start, even if they are not customers of the bank.
The courses are available on the Santander Open Academy global platform and aim to help young people acquire the basic knowledge and skills they need to make more confident financial decisions: ‘The Investor’s Path: Method, Investment Fundamentals and Risk Management’ and ‘The Trader’s Path: Analysis and Risk Management’ , available for people over 16 until 31 December.
Over the coming weeks, in-person sessions at numerous Work Cafés across Spain will complement these online courses.
In addition to this proposition is the ‘Money to Invest’ campaign, through which Santander aims to help young, non-investors take their first step. Under this initiative, customers who sign up to the promotion and make the minimum required investment will receive a 50-euro bonus.
The campaign, available initially to young people between 18 and 29 who invest in active or index funds, will extend in a second phase to shares, ETFs, managed portfolios and savings insurance policies (a product that is less well known among young people, but which offers guaranteed regular savings, with the option to withdraw at any time without market risk and even with some tax breaks).
The new investment proposition forms part of the strategy for young people that Santander España launched this year and through which it aims to build a long-term relationship and support customers from their first financial experiences.
In recent months, Santander has boosted its services for young people with initiatives such as a dedicated app for teenagers on which they can use Bizum, as well as new benefits for travelling abroad, including the removal of fees for payments in foreign currencies and free cash withdrawals from international ATMs.
With investment as its new focus, Santander is broadening the financial journey of young people, from their first payments and day-to-day money management to their first savings and investment decisions.
