Chief Executive Officer, Banco Santander
Héctor Grisi is the Chief Executive Officer of Santander Group, a role he has held since January 2023. With more than 35 years in international banking, he is recognized for his leadership in business transformation, operational efficiency, and digital innovation.
Since becoming CEO, Grisi has led Santander through a period of strong performance and strategic modernization. Under his leadership, the Group has strengthened investor confidence, improved its market position, and accelerated its shift toward becoming a simpler, more agile, and digitally integrated financial institution.
Previously, he served as Regional Head for North America, where he oversaw operations in Mexico and the United States, significantly enhancing coordination, profitability, and growth across the region. From 2015 to 2022, he was Executive President and CEO of Santander México, where he drove customer growth, digital adoption, and elevated the bank’s reputation for inclusion and efficiency.
Earlier in his career, Grisi held senior leadership roles at Credit Suisse México, including President and CEO, and was a member of its Global Committee. He began his career in investment banking at Casa de Bolsa Inverlat, Banco Mexicano, and Grupo Financiero Santander Mexicano. He has also served as Vice President of the Mexican Banking Association and on the boards of the Mexican Stock Exchange and Universidad Iberoamericana.
A firm believer in corporate responsibility, he has championed initiatives in education, sustainability, and social inclusion throughout his career. Born in Mexico City, Héctor holds a Finance degree with honors from Universidad Iberoamericana and completed postgraduate studies in markets and finance at the New York Institute of Finance. He is married and has three children.
