Banco Santander has been supporting education, employment and entrepreneurship for 30 years. And we’re in no doubt that advocating for these three pillars is one of the most effective ways to help people and businesses prosper and build more prepared and inclusive communities. These pillars enable us to contribute to a more innovative economy with more and better opportunities, and to set us apart from other financial institutions.

We have invested over 2.4 billion euros in partnership with more than 1,000 universities and organizations and supported over 8.3 million people and businesses.

In 2025 alone, we invested some 102 million euros in promoting education, employability and entrepreneurship and helped 4.6 million people and businesses. Having invested 311 million euros in these three areas between 2023 and 2025, we have upped our target to reach 400 million euros for the period 2023 to 2026

We sign agreements with prestigious international higher education institutions to strengthen the university ecosystem and support their digital transformation. We provide scholarships and grants to adults so they can access and complete higher education. We also encourage lifelong learning through acquiring and building on skills that afford better job opportunities. We offer training and benefits for SMEs, startups, scaleups and entrepreneurial projects to help them grow and strengthen their businesses.

Three vital pillars for a prosperous society:

When society invests in education, it grows sustainably, is more open and diverse, creates opportunity for everyone, and can tackle the conflicts and challenges of the future.

Ana Botín, Banco Santander Executive Chair
