We want to help more people and businesses prosper in the communities where we have operations. We provide more support to higher education than any other company in the world and we have more than 1,200 agreements in place with universities and other academic institutions in 33 countries.

Higher education

Banco Santander provides more support to higher education than any other private company in the world1. We have created a unique network of 1,235 universities around the world, through which we support students, researchers and entrepreneurs.

Universia Foundation

Through grants, internships and employment in collaborative, inclusive environments, the foundation drives the social and occupational integration of disabled university students. In this way, Santander is positioned as the benchmark entity for the qualified inclusion of people with talent and disability.

Through the foundation, we have also run multiple sensitisation and awareness initiatives linked to sport and culture over the past year, reaching more than 130,000 people.

Community investment

We drive inclusive, sustainable growth through initiatives and programmes that improve access to education, social entrepreneurship, employability and well-being in the communities where we have a presence.

Commitment to primary education
We support numerous programmes for driving education with an action focus centred on Latin America. We have been supporting education programmes in different countries for years to guarantee equal opportunities for all children and support sustainable development.

Driving financial education
We drive local development programmes that, in collaboration with other organisations, transmit the importance of saving to children. That helps educate young people starting out on an independent life and families about making basic financial decisions. The Bank also runs lots of educational events, workshops and masterclasses on financial training for its self-employed and SME customers to help them with their businesses.

Supporting welfare in the community
We run numerous initiatives for tackling situations of poverty, vulnerability and social marginality. We also support programmes centred around the preventing disease, driving health and supporting and backing disabled people.
