The course will help recipients improve their English language training and their job prospects and is aimed at young people aged between 18 and 30 years old from 11 countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and Uruguay). Applicants must have a level of English at least equivalent to B1 in order to apply for one of the places.

Santander Course | USA Summer Experience – UPenn includes the cost of flights, University accommodation, medical insurance, a certificate of attendance, social and cultural activities and a letter of invitation from the University of Pennsylvania for the USA visa application process.

The course lasts three weeks, from 8-28 July. The content is designed to help young people learn and practise English while reinforcing and practising other skills, such as leadership, teamwork, persuasive communication, social media and positive psychology.

Applications will be open until 13 March in Santander Open Academy. This is a free course. No university degree is necessary, and being a Santander customer is not a requirement.

According to Rafael Hernández, Global Deputy Head of Santander Universities, “Language immersion is the best way to boost progress when it comes to improving language training. And what better than doing so immersed in a multicultural environment, in a city as iconic as Philadelphia and at an equally iconic university such as the University of Pennsylvania, with whom we have a very close and trusting relationship.”

Jack Sullivan, Director of the University of Pennsylvania English Language Programs, added, “We are thrilled to continue our valued partnership with Banco Santander by welcoming scholarship recipients to our beautiful Ivy League campus in Philadelphia where we will develop their professional English skills, as well as explore important sociocultural dynamics behind the language that factor into effective intercultural communication.”
