Supporting higher education is an opportunity to help people and businesses prosper. And we do this through Santander Universities, a pioneering programme and the only one of its kind in the world.

At Santander Universities, we gear our efforts towards supporting higher education. And we have Universia, a digital platform of non-financial services for the university ecosystem that provides guidance and employment services, and Fundación Universia, which promotes the social and labour market inclusion of university students with disabilities.

We support universities and students around the world to proper, focusing on education (Santander Scholarships), entrepreneurship (Santander X) and employment.

We are the only European bank included in the 2018 "Change the World" ranking of companies that help to make the world a better place (Fortune magazine) through their positive impact on society. We were also recognised as the company that invests most in education in the world (Varkey Report/UNESCO/Fortune 500).

For 20 years, we have been collaborating with more than 1,200 universities around the world. We have invested more than €1.7 billion in support of higher education since 2002 and spent €121 million in 2018.

“We have the opportunity to help people and businesses prosper and higher education is crucial. We want to build a better, more inclusive and more sustainable future, offering opportunities in training, employability and entrepreneurship to the entire university community", Javier Roglá, global head of Santander Universities and CEO of Universia.

On of Banco Santander's hallmarks is its support for higher education to build a more inclusive and sustainable future.

“Over the next three years, more than 200,000 students will receive a Santander Scholarship, do an internship at an SME, or take part in a Santander-backed entrepreneurship programme run by universities”, Ana Botín, Group executive chairman of Banco Santander.
