Santander reports annually its performance in terms of culture, sustainability and responsible banking, informing of the main actions and commitments of the Bank in this areas and in relation to its main stakeholders (employees, customers, shareholders and society).
In addition, the Bank also reports on the main initiatives it develops with society and the environment, particularly in the communities where it operates, with special attention to the Bank's relationship with the Universities.
For the reporting of this non-financial information, Santander has taken into account recognized international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI): Exhaustive option. As well as the directive 2014/95/UE transposed to the Spanish legal system through the Law 11/2018 of non-financial information and diversity.
The chapter on responsible banking, of the bank's annual report, is where all this information is collected, and has been verified by PwC, an independent firm that has also audited the Group's annual accounts in that year.
We report on the performance of our responsible banking initiatives in the countries where we operate. Some subsidiaries include this information in their annual report while others prepare their own sustainability report.
