The Santander app and OneCare have been chosen as Product of the Year 2026, winning in the Banking App and Health Insurance categories, respectively. These awards result from the direct rating of more than 15,600 Portuguese consumers, who recognised the innovation, attractiveness and value of the bank's solutions.
Santander app's achievement reflects the bank's strong commitment to digital transformation and improving the customer experience. Currently, Santander has 1.33 million active digital customers in Portugal, both individuals and businesses, up by 5.1% year-on-year, and now accounting for more than two-thirds of its total customer base.
In 2025, daily logins to Netbanco and the Bank's app reached more than 1.1 million, an increase of almost 10% compared to the previous year. Customers using the Santander app as a digital access platform to the Bank now number almost 920,000, a year-on-year growth of nearly 18%.
Last year, Santander launched new features in its app, reinforcing the speed, simplicity and security of its digital experience. The main improvements include the revamped MB Way features, including faster transactions and cardless withdrawals, as well as full integration with the main digital wallets. Digital document signing and autonomous real-time request tracking are now also fully available.
In consumer ratings, Santander app's overall score was 6.25. The majority of consumers considers recommending the app (66%), highlights its appealing image (76%) and recognises its real value (64%).
As for OneCare, an insurance product from Aegon Santander Portugal, it was named Product of the Year in the Health Insurance category, reaffirming Santander's strategy of strengthening its protection and well-being offerings. Developed with an innovative approach, OneCare stands out from traditional health insurance by having no age limit and by strongly focusing on preventive medicine and continuous monitoring through a 24/7 Health Assistant who supports clients with alerts, appointments, answers to questions and personalised support. This insurance solution also covers consultations in psychology, sleep and stress management, psychotherapy, psychiatry and alternative medicines, adapting to different profiles and life stages.
In consumer ratings, OneCare achieved an overall score of 6.15 points, with a particular emphasis on the likelihood of recommendation (68%), suitability for lifestyle (83%) and perceived real value (79%).
In its 22nd edition, the Product of the Year award recognised 73 products and services that excel for their innovation in Portugal, in areas such as finance, health and wellness, technology and services. The study confirms that trust continues to be a determining factor at the time of purchase, with 75% of consumers stating that the Product of the Year label influences their decision to try new products.
Recommended Brand – Consumers Trust
In addition to the Product of the Year Awards, Santander was recognised as a Recommended Brand 2026 by Consumers Trust, an award given directly by consumers and considered one of the main indicators of positive reputation in Portugal.
Santander placed 1st among the leading banks, with a satisfaction index of 85.5, reflecting the relationship of trust, proximity and consistency between the bank and its customers.
The bank adds that "over the past year, Santander has distinguished itself by closely monitoring customer needs and by its ability to transform each interaction into a positive experience."
