At Grupo Santander we believe that companies should play an active role in addressing social challenges by working with the third sector and other players to make a real impact. We focus our social investment on education, employability and entrepreneurship and run community support initiatives alongside social organizations in each of our markets, especially on financial education and to help vulnerable groups.
For the past two decades we have been implementing a comprehensive social action strategy that goes beyond financial support by fostering commitment to charitable causes and corporate volunteering to have a long-lasting, transformational impact. We demonstrate this commitment through programmes that Santander HQ, Fundación Santander and Santander España run and that we complement with our Solidarity network in Spain (an ecosystem of 231 NGOs that come together every year to share learning, strengthen ties, and broaden their impact).
Our initiatives
We finance social projects that support vulnerable groups through our contests. Our social funds enable us to channel resources towards initiatives that not-for-profit organizations run.
We encourage corporate volunteering alongside the Solidarity network member organizations so that our employees can lend their talent and time to social projects. This includes volunteering, pro bono volunteering, and charity team building.
We create simple, secure technology-based solutions that enable donations to NGOs with no fees.
We run financial education, employability and entrepreneurship initiatives to provide people with greater opportunity.
We offer our facilities and resources to the members of our Solidarity network, from initiatives at our WorkCafés to charity bazaars, catering and merchandise donations. We also give a second chance to computers and furniture and bring the arts closer to vulnerable groups.
Behind each initiative are people, teamwork and hours of dedication. These figures show how our social commitment has a tangible impact:
