Every year we celebrate “Santander Week”, a time to recognise what we stand for as a company and further embrace our common culture, “The Santander Way”.

Our culture is at the heart of everything we do, and The Santander Way sets out how we go about doing things. It is our shared global culture within the company, and it is the way we do things around here. It is comprised of our purpose “to help people and businesses prosper” and our aim “to be the best open financial services platform, acting responsibly and earning the trust of our people, customers, shareholders and communities”. It also includes our three values “Simple, Personal and Fair” and the five behaviours that help us to live our values: T.E.A.M.S – Think Customer, Embrace Change, Act Now, and, Speak Up.

During the Santander Week, we celebrate all things culture and c. 200,000 colleagues come together to share experiences with one another as a global company.

We share global social media challenges, centered on our behaviours – which colleagues and customers can take part in. We learn together about the behaviours through various video content and interactive training courses, and, have a series of external speakers coming to share their deep expertise and knowledge around each of the behaviours and how to best deploy them in the workplace.

Colleagues also get the chance to hear from, and question, the most senior leaders in the company speaking about the importance of the culture. Our leadership teams share their own reflections and experiences with the behaviours.

We also encourage colleagues to participate in various volunteering activities designed to help us give back to the communities we operate in. Activities scheduled include the collection of food donations, assembly of hygiene kits, through to planting trees.

Activities take place both in person and remotely and there is something for everyone during Santander Week, irrespective of where, when or how you work at Santander. We are ready to celebrate what makes us who we are!
