Madrid, 21 June 2021 - PRESS RELEASE
Banco Santander, Santander Universidades and Laspau (affiliated with Harvard University) have opened 150 Santander Skills | Innovation in Teaching scholarships for university professors in 11 countries to study innovative and effective teaching curricula.
Paired with expert teachers and pedagogues, scholarship participants will take courses designed to equip them with the tools they need through networking and best practice sharing so they can become agents of change in their teaching communities. They will apply active learning principles and backward design curricula to develop their own educational projects.
The programme, which builds on an exhaustive study on a vast international network of teachers, is available in Spanish, English and Portuguese. It targets university professors working in Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Poland, Uruguay and the United Kingdom.
“Banco Santander’s commitment to education and innovative teaching in higher education is no secret. Our aim with this initiative was to extend that commitment to teachers through a study highlighting the pressing need to make new educational practices in universities mainstream faster and to pave the way for a programme we’re really proud of“, said Javier Roglá, global head of Santander Universities.
According to Angélica Natera, executive director of Laspau, “Our network of experts and 55 years’ experience in opening the door to quality higher education helped design a programme where people can learn enhanced techniques; establish ties with world-renowned universities; become better teachers; and champion change that impacts their institutions”.
The course will begin in October. Candidates can check the eligibility criteria and apply at www.becas-santander.com. The deadline is 26 July. Participants who successfully complete all the programme's activities will get an online certificate.
