In response to the challenges related to the mental wellbeing of children and young people who have been particularly affected by the pandemic, Santander Bank Polska Group has donated PLN 1 million to support 16 Polish hospitals with child and adolescent mental health units. The Group will donate another PLN 1 million by doubling the money raised in the charity campaign called “We Will Double Your Impact”, which starts on 1 June 2021.

Experts from the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) say that the psychological impact of Covid-19 may last much longer than the pandemic itself . They stress that it is the wellbeing of children and young people that is most affected by the lockdown and changes in their family and school lives. That is why Santander Bank Polska, in partnership with Santander Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych, Santander Leasing and Santander Factoring, has donated PLN 1 million to support child psychiatry, and launches the second edition of the “We Will Double Your Impact” charity campaign, which is run together with Santander Bank Polska Foundation.
“Treatment of children with psychosocial problems is the second most important social issue, next to pediatric oncology. The pandemic has negatively affected the mental wellbeing of the youngest, wiping smiles from their faces. Children and young people now need specialist support, some of them even in-patient care. We can come together and help them by joining the We Will Double Your Impact fundraiser,” said Marzena Atkielska, President of Santander Bank Polska Foundation.
The money raised will be donated to 16 hospitals in Poland with children and adolescent psychiatry and neurology units. They will be used to finance specialist equipment, including equipment for therapy and workshop facilities, and renovation of wards, outdoor playgrounds, gyms and internet corners – everything that psychiatric and neurological hospitals need to take care of the mental health of children and young people.
We will double your impact – Santander Bank Polska doubles the donations
Santander Bank Polska Group and Santander Bank Polska Foundation have also launched a general fundraiser to support child and adolescent psychiatry. The Group will double the donations made by customers and other people to the Foundation account up to another PLN 1 million.
"We believe that together we can do more and we will encourage our customers and employees to join the initiative. Thanks to the participation of our customers and employees, last year we donated PLN 5 million to Polish hospitals to help fight the pandemic. It is particularly important to help young people cope with their psychosocial problems deepened by the pandemic. We know how challenging it is to ensure psychiatric care for children and, as a socially responsible institution, we want to step up and encourage others to do the same,” said Michał Gajewski, CEO of Santander Bank Polska.
The campaign features Marcin Dorociński, an award-winning screen and stage actor, who will encourage people via social media to join the fundraiser to support the mental wellbeing of children and young people. The donations can be made by transfer to the account of Santander Bank Polska Foundation: 53 1090 1056 0000 0001 4750 0104 with a note “donation”, or by BLIK transfer to the Foundation’s phone number: 516 925 400.
