Since 2003, Santander's contribution to sustainability has been recognised by the FTSE4Good stock market index created by the London Stock Exchange. Being listed in this index is another example of how our commitment to society and our stakeholders is valued internationally.

Santander works every day to help people and businesses prosper by supporting sustainable growth. That is why our work has been recognised by the FTSE4Good sustainability index in recent years. This time, our contribution to sustainability received a score of 4.3 out of 5, which is an increase with respect to last year and places us above the banking sector’s average of 2.9 points.

This positive score is supported by the assessment of our ESG (environmental, social and governance) commitments in terms of environmentally responsible financing, labour standards, risk management, corporate governance and proper tax transparency in all our geographies and business lines.

The FTSE4Good Index Series was launched in 2001. It serves as a tool for investing in companies that have demonstrably sustainable practices or a desire to help make a positive difference, in addition to investment portfolios that match these values.

Being listed in the FTSE4Good is a great honour for our bank and reminds us that we must continue to build on our progress.

Santander is recognised as the most sustainable bank in the world by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. We are also listed in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index and other indexes that evaluate companies' sustainability initiatives. Furthermore, our sustainability efforts are assessed by Sustainalytics, Vigeo, ISS-ESG, CDP and MSCI.
