Santander, through Santander Universitäten, steps in and takes on payments for the AMP-Scholarships (Disponible solo en inglés)

  • Seven scholarships of the Albertus-Magnus Program at the University of Cologne are financially covered by Santander Universitäten.
  • Santander extends its support of the University of Cologne.

Mönchengladbach, February 27th, 2014 – Santander Universitäten, the German part of Banco Santanders’s Global Division Santander Universidades, takes over the scholarship payments of the Albertus-Magnus-Program from March until September 2014. Through its support, Santander enables the seven students from 3rd world and emerging countries, who are currently enrolled in the program, to complete their studies in Germany.

The bank is already a sponsoring partner of the University of Cologne and supports the school through programs like the “Cologne Summer School” and the “Deutschlandstipendien”. It assists the universities on behalf of Santander Universitäten. Santander Universitäten belongs to the Banco Santander’s global unit Santander Universidades.

Within the scope of the social commitment of Banco Santander, since 17 years Santander Universidades fosters strong relationships with more than 1,100 academic institutions worldwide.

The initial sponsorship of the regional government for the AMP-Program expires towards the end of the winter term 2012/13. Santander Universitäten steps in and carries on with the scholarship payments for  the seven students coming from Subsahara-Africa, Egypt and Myanmar who are currently enrolled in the Program. Udo Schweers, Director of Santander Universitäten, explains: „We are very happy to contribute to the continuation of the Albertus-Magnus-Program. Within its efforts in supporting various Universities, Santander Universitäten puts a main focus on international exchange. Therefore, enabling the students to successfully finish their studies at the University of Cologne is of great importance to us“.

Through its Santander Universities Global Division, Santander Germany maintains next to the cooperation with the University of Cologne also cooperations with the University of Bremen, the Goethe University of Frankfurt, the University of Göttingen, the University of Heidelberg, the University of Münster, the University Niederrhein and the University of Tübingen.
