Santander supports World Congress of Hispanic Studies in Münster

  • Westphalia Wilhelms-University expects about 800 participants.
  • Dialogue strengthens international academic exchanges.

Mönchengladbach, July 8th, 2016. From 11th to 17th July 2016 will be held the 19th World Congress of Hispanic Studies at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster (WWU). The World Congress, which in recent years has taken place in New York (2001), Paris (2007), Rome (2010) and Buenos Aires (2013), is organized by the "Asociación Internacional de Hispanistas" (AIH). Santander Consumer Bank supports this prestigious event in Münster on behalf of "Santander Universities Germany", part of the global corporate area "Santander Universidades".

Established in Oxford in 1962, AIH is an international Association comprised of nearly 2,000 members worldwide. Through its work, it promotes research in the Hispanic Studies, strengthens international academic exchanges and thus contributes to a transnational dialogue between national Hispanic cultures.

"Supporting this type of sustainable events, as the International Academic Exchanges, is part of the understanding and philosophy of the Bank" explained Alberto Dörr, Responsible for Santander Universities in Germany. The Congress represents an essential contribution to international cooperation, said Mr. Dörr, who also emphasized the great interest in promoting global cooperation within the Hispanic Studies.

During the six-day congress worldwide experts from different areas of Hispanic Studies will meet to discuss an ambitious program that includes issues related to the literature of all eras, culture, linguistics and history. Individual sections will be conducted by leading international experts in the respective fields. Thus, the World Congress has an important impact in the promotion of international cooperation and contributes to make the Hispanismus, in all its diversity, more visible.
