Corporate volunteering comprises the social actions the company supports in a show of solidarity. At Grupo Santander, while young people’s education is the cornerstone of our volunteering work, we also run initiatives in these areas:

  • Financial education: Santander España employees support the “Finanzas para Mortales” (Finance for Mortals) programme. It aims to boost people’s understanding of financial concepts for better financial health and more informed decisions on managing finances. They also take part in “Tus Finanzas Tu Futuro” (Your finances, your future), a programme run by the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) with Fundación Junior Achievement.

Santander Chile has been running the “Sano de Lucas programme for a number of years, and Santander México has the Fideicomiso Por los Niños de México (FPNM) initiative, where employees make donations and lend a helping hand.

  • Employability: To help prevent children dropping out of school and encourage young people to enter the job market, especially among vulnerable social groups. Santander Digital Services’ “#DigitalVolunteers” programme helps people with disability. And to help bridge the gender gap, Santander España employees have launched "Mujeres con S” and “De mujer a mujer” mentoring and coaching initiatives for women.

  • Vulnerable social groups: Santander volunteers in Germany, Poland and the UK have supported Ukrainian refugees through donations and by offering them shelter in their homes. Read more in our 2022 Annual report. What's more, our employees regularly cooperate with NGOs at food banks and fundraisers for disease research.

  • The planet: Santander España runs climate change programme “Santander Natura” to help clean up beaches. Santander Uruguay volunteers run a similar programme.

  • Donations: Our corporate volunteering also includes donations to fund social projects, in markets where local law allows. Santander España's “Euros from your salary” fund helps support initiatives that make the world a better place. The fund receives donations from employees, which Santander also matches.
