Santander Universitäten and DHV extend partnership (Disponible solo en inglés)

  • Scholarship program TANDEM and “Principal/President Of The Year Award” continue to be promoted.
  • Agreement includes another four years of support.

Mönchengladbach, 4th December 2015-. German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (Deutscher Hochschulverband-DHV) and Santander, through Santander Universities, have extended their cooperation which was formed in 2014 for another four years. This follows from a recent agreement signed by Prof. Bernhard Kempen, President of DHV, and Ulrich Leuschner, CEO Santander Consumer Bank, in Bonn.

As in 2014 and 2015, Santander Universities will continue to donate the prize money for the “Principal/President Of The Year Award”, which DHV has been given to principals or presidents for exemplarily manner of administration annually since 2009. The prize-winner, chosen by around 28 500 members in an online voting, will be awarded at the „Gala of German science”. With the prize money, the award winner shall fund an university-related program.

In the course of this collaboration, Santander will proceed to support the scholarship program TANDEM, by which the DHV foundation “Deutsche Universitätsstiftung” (DUS) promotes students from non-academic families that often have a migration background. Every year, 30 scholarship holders are accompanied throughout their studies by a resident professor that is functionally related to the respective subject. DUS provides workshops and trainings on topics like time and learning management, rhetoric and presentation skills as well as social manners twice a year. Furthermore, the sophisticated supporting program contains coaching, networking, potential analysis and professional events. Currently there are 90 scholarship holders supported.

In addition, Santander Universities provides the sponsoring of DHV and its communications activities with its members.

“We regard DHV as an ideal partner. It is one of the top players in the field of German higher education policy whose activities are consistent with and supplement our program “Santander Universities”, Ulrich Leuschner said in his speech on the contract signing.
