Santander awards scholarships at the University of Cologne (Disponible solo en inglés)

  • Santander Universitäten once again sponsors five “Deutschlandstipendien”.

Mönchengladbach, 14th December 2015-. At a ceremony held in the auditorium of the University of Cologne this Thursday, Professor Dr. Werner Melles, Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, presented 228 students with a Deutschlandstipendium. For the fourth time already, Santander sponsors, through Santander Universitäten, five of those scholarships granted for a period of one year. Furthermore, Santander supports the students through joint projects and by offering them international career opportunities for the time after graduation.

The Deutschlandstipendium is an initiative of the Federal Government of Germany that provides high-achieving and committed students a monthly support of EUR 300. Half of the money is donated by a private partner – in this case Santander – the other half comes from the Federal Government.

There has been cooperation between Santander and the University of Cologne since May 2012. Ever since, in addition to the scholarship program, an intense international scientific exchange has been developed within the sophisticated Cologne Summer School Program.

“Universität zu Köln“ is next to “Justus-Liebig-University Gießen”, “Universität des Saarlandes “Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin“, “Universität Bremen“, “Goethe-Universität Frankfurt“, “Georg-August-Universität Göttingen“, “Ruperto Carola Heidelberg“, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster“, „Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen“ and „Hochschule Niederrhein“ one of the eleven German universities that cooperates with „Santander Universitäten“.
