The aim is to increase security by using an innovative payment system that helps reduce the risk of fraud by up to 90%.
Santander Mexico has launched a credit card for its customers that has no visible numbers or codes. The numberless card increases customer security for online and mobile shopping, since it helps reduce the risk of fraud by up to 90%. With this type of card, since only the name and expiry date of the plastic card are displayed, customers do not reveal sensitive data and are better protected from the possible theft of information on a physical card.
These security specifications are considered among the best and according to forecasts, 70% of new cards created this year will be of this type.
Very simple to use
The lack of digits is made up for by using a digital card with a dynamic CVV and a personal identification number (PIN), thereby creating a new security environment.
Customers can use this numberless card to make purchases in physical stores. To do so, they must enter their PIN at the point-of-sale terminal. In this way, they will not reveal sensitive card data. When buying online, customers may take advantage of the digital version of their cards by using the Super Wallet app. Since the security code (CVV) in this case is dynamic, the website where the purchase is made does not store this sensitive information.
If customers want to access their card details, they may do so using the Super Wallet app, by entering their digital banking credentials and password, selecting the card and using the reader to scan the QR code on the physical card. This QR code has encrypted information, so that only the user can access it.
We are leaders in innovation
This new card model is the result of the work of a group of specialists and technicians in Mexico at “Spotlight”, Santander’s digital factory.
We are the first bank in Mexico to offer this type of card. Its launch signals our position at the forefront of security and as producers of real solutions to the challenges of the digital environment.
