Students will cover 50% of the cost of the two-year course via the Santander Studies Scholarships programme.

19th March 2021 – In keeping with its commitment to promoting access to the highest levels of the country's education system, Banco Santander, via its Santander Studies Scholarships programme, has invited students to submit applications for scholarships that will cover 50% of the cost of the Third Edition of the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC)'s Master's in Data Science programme.

This master's programme seeks to train specialists in data science and machine learning. It is the only specialist course of this kind in Latin America and the second in the world to obtain MicroMasters in Statistics and Data Science certification from the Massachussets Institute of Technology, the university with which UTEC has partnered to develop this training.

In 2021 the first generation will graduate from the Master's in Data Science programme, and the previous editions, which also benefitted from the support of Santander scholarships, achieved outstanding results for the students, with over 50% obtaining a job within the area or achieving promotion within the company in which they were developed.

"We are supporting this Master's programme offered by UTEC in partnership with MIT because we are keen to foster the change in mindset with regard to education and work so that Uruguayan students and companies can lead digital environments linked to data technologies. This is a unique opportunity for specialisation in the region", said María de la Paz Goldaracena, director of Santander Universities Uruguay.

Applications for these Santander scholarships, which cover the two-year duration of this specialised course, must be submitted by Monday, 22 March at www.becas-santander.com
