Steve Pateman gives a lecture at the University of Essex

17th December 2014-. Steve Pateman, head of UK Banking at Santander, spoke recently to students, staff and alumni, on the current economic recovery. He also visited the Santander branch at the University.

The Head of UK Banking at Santander gave a lecture to guests including students and staff entitled: ‘Our progress to Economic recovery, the role of enterprise and the banks and the challenges that still lie ahead’. Mr. Pateman’s talk was followed by a Q & A session with the CEO and a visit to the Santander branch on campus where a commemorative plaque was unveiled.

The University of Essex has strong links with the bank after the signing of a collaboration agreement in 2008. Prior to the lecture, Mr. Pateman was welcomed to the University by Professor Anthony Forster Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Since the signing of the agreement in 2008 Santander Universities has committed support at Essex as follows:

  • 72 scholarships
  • 43 mobility awards
  • SME internship commitment of 70 Interns
  • Enterprise support initiatives
  • Support for Latin American art projects
  • Research projects
  • Different types of awards

Also recently speak was invited to speak in London at the Association of Business Schools Annual Conference. The main theme of the conference was: 21st Century Business Schools. Demonstrating IMPACT. Talent – Digital -  Global”. The conference was aimed at deans, assistant and associate deans, senior business school academics and university pro-vice-chancellors . After the speech Steve joined other peers in a discussion panel.
