Born in Madrid (Spain) in 1940. Joined the board in 1999. Graduate in Economics and Business.
He was appointed for the first time a director of the Bank on 17 April 1999. He was re-elected by the general meetings of shareholders of 2002, 2005, 2009 and 2012.
Other significant positions: non-executive vice-chairman of Indra Sistemas, S.A. and non-executive director of Cartera Industrial REA, S.A. He was formerly the chairman of Arthur Andersen’s Global Board and a manager for EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa ) for the same firm and a non-executive vice-chairman of Indra Sistemas, S.A.
