In line with the United nations Millennium Development objectives, Banco Santander supports local initiatives that promote children’s education in more disadvantaged communities. Its aim is to help achieve a universal education providing equality of opportunities and encouraging sustainable growth in the communities.
It is focused mainly in Latin America, where Banco Santander collaborates in projects that support and strengthen different educational programs in each country.
Examples of these initiatives include:
To prevent drop-out of students from poor families. They enable poor children to continue schooling. A total of 222 scholarships were awarded in 2015.
To encourage the habit and passion for reading in children.
