Santander and University of Cologne extend their cooperation

  • Cologne Summer School is a continuing success story.
  • International exchange on research and science will be expanded in future.

Mönchengladbach, 29th February, 2016-. Representatives of the University of Cologne and Santander Consumer Bank AG extended their partnership for three more years. The cooperation contract was signed by Dr. Michael Stückradt, chancellor of the University of Cologne, and Oliver Burda, deputy chairman of Santander Consumer Bank.

In 2013, the University of Cologne began cooperating with Santander, through Santander Universities, in order to run the Cologne Summer Schools, a diverse offer of summer schools for exchange students studying at international partner-universities.

Santander is proud to be once more a supporter of the Cologne Summer Schools, board-member Oliver Burda stated. “Funding the international mobility of students and scientists belongs to the main purposes of Santander Universities. The level of interest in this valuable international exchange is comforting,” Oliver Burda emphasized.

Within the last three years, 18 Cologne Summer Schools have been established by the International Office and the faculties of the University of Cologne. “Without the financial support of Santander Universities, we would not have been able to achieve our internationalization goal, the establishment of an extensive system of summer schools. Thus, I am overjoyed of receiving another three years of financial aid,” Dr. Stückradt explained.

Santander supports the university on behalf of Santander Universities, a part of the global corporate area “Santander Universidades”. From 2011 on, Santander Universities Germany has launched eleven partnerships with local universities as well as the German Universities Association (Ger. Deutscher Hochschulverband) within the scope of the bank’s social commitment.
