Santander scholars get ready to start a career

  • Third Santander Scholarship Day in Frankfurt/Main.
  • Students experience the Santander Universities network.

Mönchengladbach, 18 April 2016-. According to  the motto „Ready to Start your Career“ the scholarship students supported by Banco Santander through Santander Universities and scholarship students of the German University Foundation (Deutsche Hochschulstiftung) met on the 11th of April in Frankfurt/Main. In addition to the exchange of experience with representatives from the bank and the German University Foundation, the focus was to answer on questions of career management and personal development during workshops and a Q&A session.

“Our scholarship students are part of a worldwide network, which connects students and young scientists all over the world.” explains Alberto Dörr, Director Santander Universities Germany. Therefore it’s our aim to make that big international network attractive and interesting for all. Our philosophy is not only to support financially, but also to keep an eye on the professional and private development of our students.”

Melissa Morsbach, a former Santander scholar and since the 1st of April employee of Santander, especially benefited from this encouragement. During her studies she took part in several events organized by Santander Universities, a corporate area of the bank. At an earlier phase of her job application process she then encountered an exciting position at Santander and used this lucky chance: “The positive impression I gained during my fellowship proved to be true as an employee.”

The TANDEM Scholarship students of the German University Foundation were also invited to the event in Frankfurt/Main. This scholarship focuses on students from non-academic families: „Studies show that educational climbers still have a hard time finding their way in an alien academic world, despite the permeability of the German education system, says Prof. Dr. Bernd Helmig, Vice President of the “German Association of University Professors and Lecturers Confederation” (Deutscher Hochschulverband – DHV).
